“In order for them to be the best they can be, my children need me to be the best version of me I can be. That means
taking charge of our lives, being strong even if I don’t feel it,being brave and believing that I can make things better.”
― Charlotte Pearson, Mummy Fever: Mission Accomplished
Good Morning!
When I became a mom for the first time I was petrified. I really had no idea what I was doing and I did not have great role models growing up. I felt lost. Raising a child was a huge responsibility and I had no idea what I was doing. I muddled along for a while making lots of mistakes, taking lots of missteps and in general not being the mom I wanted to be.
One day I finally woke up and realized that being a mother was not going to just suddenly be part of my skill set. I realized that if I wanted to be good at this job I needed some guidance. I realized that it was ok to ask for help.
I needed to learn how to be, as Charlotte Pearson tells us today, “the best version of me I can be”. I needed,”to take charge of my life”. I needed to be brave and I needed to belief that anything was possible.
Like anything else that we learn in life, it wasn’t easy. And I still made mistakes and I still took missteps but little by little I learned the mommy skill set. I learned how to stay strong and calm even when I was scared. I learned that only I was in charge of my life. I learned that how I felt, how I reacted and what I did had a huge impact on my children.
So… listen to Charlotte Pearson and do whatever you have to do to learn the skill set you need “to be the best version of you that you can be.” Be brave, know the impact you will have on your children, and know that you can make things better. Do this and you will raise children who are “the best that they can be”.
Have some fun today!
